Living in the Here and Now

Do you ever find yourself engrossed with what you are doing that you leave reality for just a sliver of a second? You can be doing something so simple you enjoy that you forget all the problems that are currently plaguing you. I find myself getting lost in my world quite more frequently than normal that I completely forget that I am now currently residing here in Nevada.

What do you call this “alignment”? I call it living in the moment. You are doing something that you love then you lose yourself in an alternate reality. Why can’t moments like these be frozen as simply as the snapshot of picture? Why can’t we always live in the here and now of our lives? We spend most of our lives rushing everywhere. We rush to work, we rush to eat our food and we rush conversations. What we are doing is rushing our lives away. Take the time and live the moment. Moments are precious.

Don’t rush to work. Enjoy the beautiful view, the helpful stranger on the street or smile to the person in the car next to you. Take the time to notice something that caught your eye in a beautiful way, each day.

Don’t rush to eat your food. Enjoy and savor every bite. You never know, it could be the last time you taste something that is so exquisite. Allow it to touch each and every one of your taste buds. Use all your senses to eat.

Don’t rush those mundane conversations you don’t want anything to do with. You have the power to do something to liven them up. Ask open-ended questions. Questions where yes and no will not suffice. Learn at least one thing new about the person that you are conversating with. You may even gain a friend.

Don’t rush your life away. Live in the here and now.

  2. Yes to all of this. Swear sometimes I eat so fast I reach for another bite and it’s totally gone. Or I think of other things while having the meal and I don’t even taste it. Neither situation is enjoyable!
